To wrap up the week, lets hear about Dom and Kristas adventures! Heres a little message from Dom along with some pictures from both Dom and Krista: Dear FVCers, Its Dom here! Its been about a little over a month that Ive been in the beautiful country of Costa Rica and I have had SO many cool experiences already that I wanna share with you. My absolute favorite things Ive done here so far have been: -Swam with bull sharks. COMPLETELY IN THE WILD!! -Watched a sea turtle swim to shore in the middle of the night, make her nest and lay her eggs before returning to the sea. The whole process took about 1.5 hours. One of the most beautiful things Ive had the privilege of witnessing. I also got to see a few baby sea turtles just after they had hatched and crawled out of the sand. -Surfed in the beautiful tropical waters here (but dont worry, Campus Point will always have a special place in my heart!) -Spent 17 days straight traveling without any personal technology (No phones, no computers or internet… nothing. I would say this was my favorite part, but I honestly cant choose one favorite thing.) -Got the privilege of going camping on an undeveloped island for 5 nights in the pacific off the coast of CR (it is located in a nature conservancy so the snorkeling was awesome!) This country is perfect a perfect place for studying biology because, thus far, the rain forests and the beaches have been our classroom. Later in my program, Ill get to do my own biological research project, and Im thinking its going to have to be marine related (of course, aquatics!). I cant believe my time here is already 1/3 over, but I feel so grateful and stoked on the experiences Ive had and the memories Ive made.
