Today, 22 years ago, God blessed me with a bouncing baby boy. Dale has grown up into a handsome young man any parent would be proud of. As with most kids, we have all had our moments and challenges, but those are only temporary obstacles sent to test our strength and faith. When Dale was in grade 11, I promised him R500 if he made the first eight rowing team at Selborne. I will never forget the day he came to me after a race and said : Mom, you owe me R500. I gladly parted with the money! Happy Birthday my darling son. We are currently facing the largest challenge we will ever come across Daley, but I have no doubt that we will succeed. You are a fighter, I am a fighter, you have your team behind you, helping you on your road to recovery. We know its a long journey, but we are ready at your side, one step at a time. Have a lovely day my gorgeous son, I promise that next year we will have the biggest bash to celebrate your 21st, 22nd and 23rd birthdays! I love you my Dale, and I thank God for sparing you...
