Today 30 August in 1919, we played our first game after World War 1. Left in division 2, despite the promotion (which was then done by nomination rather than results) in favour of a certain team of interlopers from Woolwich whose chairman stitched up the vote (lucky as ever), we set about righting the wrong. We beat Coventry 2-0, the first of 13 wins on the bounce that saw us promoted back to the top division the following year. [phil]
