: Today 350 singers and musicians demonstrated against the decision by DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, to close the Danish National Chamber Orchestra / DR UnderholdningsOrkestret! Under the baton of chief conductor Adam Fischer the orchestra and supporters from the whole country performed Ode to Joy in one of Denmarks biggest shopping malls, Fisketorvet Shopping Center. It is now up to the Danish politicians to save this highly acclaimed 75 year old chamber orchestra, which has become an important link between different genres. Just to name a few of their projects, they have performed with artists like Tina Dico, Nik & Jay, Efterklang and many more, commissioned and premiered contemporary pieces (just recently at Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival), recorded all Mozarts Symphonies to much acclaim and much more. The orchestra has received supporting statements from MET Orchestra Musicians, Berliner Philharmoniker and many others and we hope that this orchestra will live on to the benefit of music making in Denmark!
