Today, 5th May 2014 is the 197th birth anniversary Karl Heinrich Marx, who was a greatest philosopher, economist, sociologist, historian, journalist, and revolutionary socialist and above all a great humanist of all times. No man in the history of the World has played a great roll with his writings to revolutionizing the society like Marx as he is a hugely influential revolutionary thinker and philosopher. Marx is one of the principal architect of modern social science including history. Marxs ideas have had a profound impact on world politics and intellectual thought. His work gave birth to modern history and has a lasting legacy in history and profoundly affected philosophy, literature, the arts, and almost all of the academic disciplines and new developments in the philosophies of history and science. In modern Historical theory on modes of production theory, Marxist history is recognized as one of the main classical perspectives. History is incomplete without Marx. The Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara summed up his own appeal to Marxism by stating that Marx produced A qualitative change in the history of social thought. He interprets history, understands its dynamic, predicts the future, but in addition to predicting it, he expresses a revolutionary concept: the world must not only be interpreted, it must be transformed. Marxist or historical materialist historiography is a school of historiography influenced by Marxism. The chief tenets of Marxist historiography are the centrality of social class and economic constraints in determining historical outcomes. Marxist historiography has made contributions to the history of the working class, oppressed nationalities, and the methodology of history from below.. A peoples history is the history of the world that is the story of mass movements and of the outsiders. Individuals not included in the past in other type of writing about history are part of history-from-below theorys primary focus, which includes the disenfranchised, the oppressed, the poor, the nonconformists, thesubaltern and the otherwise forgotten people. Marx is responcible for bringing paradigm shift in understanding history which was not seen before. Historians who use Marxist methodology, but disagree with the mainstream of Marxism, often describe themselves as marxist historians. Eric Hobsbawms C. L. R. James are some of the western Marxist historians. In India, the main representatives of Marxist historiography are prominent historians like Damodar Kosambi,R. S. Sharma, Irfan Habib, and K. N. Panikkar, Romila Thapar and Bipin Chandra. I want to see criticism on Marxism but plz read it 1st and if one has not read it then you missed the best literature and method to understand society.I mean to say Life and History are incomplete without reading Marxism. Long live Marx and Long live Historical materialism.
