Today BadMag officials had another informal but fertile meeting - TopicsExpress

Today BadMag officials had another informal but fertile meeting with the transport councillor and managers at Doncaster council, regarding the use of Bus Lanes in the Borough. I am pleased to announce that after transport managers reviewed collated data on bus lanes that are already in use by PTW’s in other areas, and looked at historical arguments both for and against their use; it has been decided Doncaster council will allow an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order in favour of PTW’s in bus lanes (which can run for up to 18 months). The trail will run on one single lane in the Doncaster area from April 2015. This will enable statistical data on the pro’s and cons; stakeholder concerns and operational issues to be gathered, in order to assess whether the continued use of this lane and the possibility of opening up other bus lanes throughout the Borough, will be feasible at the end of this study. The route for the Experimental Traffic Regulation Order will be the bus lane on York road, between Scawthorpe where it begins and the roundabout before St Georges Bridge where it ends. There will be no time constraints as the bus lane and any gates will be open for use 24 hours per day. However, I must reiterate the route will not be open until April 2015, the specific date will be issued later. We ask all PTW users to be respectful of this and not jeopardise the hard work of those involved in negotiations by using this bus lane or others, before the changes have been made by the Council Transportation Department. Once the experiment is under way, we ask all PTW users to respect speed limits, other bus lane users and traffic regulations. Once we have the specific dates we will be organising a celebratory ride through town via the York road bus lane. Full details of the celebratory ride will be issued once finalised and we hope to see you all there. Stuart Hatfield BadMag Rep
