Today Bheki Nqoko Album Title: Kuwe Bheki is a brilliant example of what is meant by experience is the best teacher when it comes to music and deserves a thunderous applause for his stupendous sophomore album, Kuwe. Having performed with the late great Busi Mhlongo, recorded with the revered Brenda Fassie. The co-founding member of the group Kofifi is on top form as he drops the lively and invigorating Afro-soul projects. Bheki says experiences of working with such great talent nurtured him to where he is right now. I believe Mam Busi saw something in me, and Ringo Madlingozi just has an eye for potential. Their valuable guidance and pointers created what I am now, and I appreciate that my peers agree with those who have guided me. The multi-talented musician says working on album (which he calls alabour of love) was very interesting for the fact that I had to do everything myself, from writing to engineering, doing paper work and producing. Every single challenging effort was a learning experience and led to many discoveries. When the time comes for Kuwe Records to sign up new acts, that shouldnt be a problem given what this album has taught me. Featuring the highly respected Khanyo Maphumulo and Ndoh Dlamini on backing vocals. Also lending their talents to the project is the amazing guitarist Sunnyboy Mthimunye. Bhekis earlier works included lending his talents to bands like Mbongeni Ngemas Maria Maria (cast member), Stax (lead vocalist), Busi Mhlongo (backing vocalist) and Ntuzuma mass choir (as lead vocalist, songwriter, arranger and conductor), Bheki left his Durban home town to pursue his music career in the City of Gold. As soon as he landed in Johannesburg, Bheki started doing studio work as a backing sessionist working with greats such as Brenda Fassie, Rebecca Malope, Busi Mhlongo and many others. He is the co-founding member of the group Kofifi that brought the massively enjoyable and Metro FM Music Awards nominated Emakhoneni (2005). As a producer, Bheki has produced for the late Mr Staff, Vusi Nongxa aka Vusi Nova, Kofifi, his latest afro soul/jazz album Kuwe and many more. As a songwriter, he has written songs for the likes of Siphokazi, Ndoh Dlamini, Kelly Khumalo, Lundi Tyamara, Vusi Nongxa, Imalini, Sbu (Malawyer), Kofifi, Mr. Staff and many others. A multi-entertainment practitioner, Bheki has also appeared in theatre productions like Mbongeni Ngemas Maria, Jubilations musical at Civic (now Joburg Theatre) alongside Sbongile Mngoma, and Woza, singing with the likes of the late Wendy Mseleku, Max Mntambo and Somizi Mhlongo directed by Themba Mkhize. In 2007, Bheki started his own company Okzin Productions and signed Bheki as the first artist. Later Okzin Productions gave birth to Kuwe Records which mainly focuses on the musical side. All my experiences have turned me into what I believe is a well-rounded astute practitioner. At the end of it all, the public will decide if I am destined for the SA music history books and I believe they will not be disappointed with the final product.
