Today Dr. Matt of Woodington Veterinary came out to inject Tucks - TopicsExpress

Today Dr. Matt of Woodington Veterinary came out to inject Tucks arthritic fetlock with a steroid. Rather than tranquilize Tuck, he put a twitch on him, which I was holding and Tuck proceeded to wiggle his nose out of it anyway. And, I had pressure on it!! But, he got it done and said that if its going to work, I should see improvement in 4-5 days. If not, well then maybe we have to think about a neurectomy at Idaho Equine. I might also try a course of hyalauronic acid (HA = Legend) to lubricate his joints. Seven weeks of loading doses of Cosequin didnt help him. His right front leg cracks when he walks, so he probably has arthritis in it, too. Poor guy! And, he doesnt want to stand on 3 legs for me to clean his feet out anymore. He always picked his feet up for me as soon as I went to one to pick it out. So, we continue with pain medication. Yes, I know he is old; hes 23. But, I really dont want to hear that! I love him far too much to just let him go without trying everything I possibly can that is within my means. He has a new career and he loves his job!
