Today Girl Power 2 Cure turned 8! That is 8 years of raising awareness, touching lives, CHANGING live, and making difference for THOUSADNDS of Rett families. They are currently in Disneyland (California) for the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend. MONTHS ago I purchased my race ticket, with every intent on running, raising awareness and money for Rett Syndrome. That race is happening THIS weekend. And sadly- Im in Indiana. :( Rett syndrome, and the ways it affects my family, had to take priority in my decision to go, or not to go. We have been awaiting information on surgery for Sophia. Had I purchased airfare (which is not refundable) Im sure her surgery would have already been scheduled, and we would have been in the hospital, or recovering. I also struggled with spending money on myself (hotel/air/food, etc) when we are trying so hard to raise money for much needed new Wheels for Sophia. Im so proud of all those running, (but) Im completely bummed not to be there with them… Wishing my Rett family in California all the best! THANK YOU for what you are doing for ALL our girls.
