Today I am chaperoning The Twins field trip. I had to drive myself because the field trip is out of town (Tampa) so I am here waiting for them at the gate. When I went into the school office to find out if I had to actually follow the bus or if I could go ahead, the secretary asked me if I was an approved volunteer. Needless to say, I became incensed. I asked her, What sense would it make for me to show up the day of the field trip, to chaperone, without having first gotten credentialed? PLEASE tell me what sense that would make? So while I was in the midst of my quasi-tantrum, another parent walked in and asked what her child needed for the pool party today. The same lady said There is no pool party. But there is a field trip to the zoo. I thought his dad said he couldnt go! The mom said That is what I am talking about. He can go and pulled out her permission slip for her child (who was NOT dressed in the required red shirt). TOTALLY undermined my argument about nonsensical behavior. I suppose the lady was thinking to herself - Do you see this? And you ask me what sense would it make? Seriously? I mentally threw my hands up in surrender, closed my mouth, waited for my badge and called Babs. Oh well. I guess she told me. Happy Friday Beautiful People!❤️
