Today I am fuming mad angry and upset! For those who dont know I have fybromyalgia, have had a disc removed from my back and a vertabrae fusion (which went wrong and has left me with a screw poking out Into a nerve canal I have to take 17 pills a day just to be able to make though the chronic pain I suffer every day. There are good days and bad,, I cant walk for more than 50 yards even on all those meds and use crutches. To take my son to school I have to use a mobility scooter. All of which can be verified by my GP surgeons physio etc. I can just about handle that and do my best not to wallow In self pity. my son asked when will you be able to walk like the other mummys? And my heart broke because I want to give him more. To help with the medical costs non NHS treatments I need and all the aids to make It possible to cook clean and look after my family and ease the burden on my Incredible fiancé who works for the both of us, I applied for help from the government. I filled out numerous forms waited sent In every scrap of medical evidence theyve asked for waited attended an assessment waited. Then today, ATOS who run the government system to apply for help, made me go to Barnsley In a taxi (which hurts) no where near where we live, for a medical exam. I got there to be told the examiner was off sick. The reason they didnt call to tell me was we hold phone numbers centrally not here . There was no where to sit, they put me out on the pavement In the cold and dark In an area I dont know and locked the door behind me. Given I cant walk very far and didnt take my scooter I was literally stuck waiting, crying out of humiliation and disgust, for the way i was treated,for Richard to pick me up half an hour later as he was driving from home! Now Im in more pain and furious that In this day and age this Is how the disabled are treated. This Is what a quarter of your taxes are paying for! I have been given a new appointment to be assessed god knows where and then a decision will be taken In march 26 weeks after I first applied.They may yet still say no! Im not a benefit fraud I just want help to be a housewife and a good mum. I hope eventually the people In charge of this system get what Is coming to them and revealed for the cretins they are.
