Today I am going to talk about something that has been in the news - TopicsExpress

Today I am going to talk about something that has been in the news the last week or so. It is about the NSA contractor Edward Snowden and his "bombshell" that the government is spying on us. Duh... Is it really a shock? The government can use the camera on your phone and the speaker to listen into you. In the larger cities such as New York, there are cameras everywhere and facial recognition software that can track your every movement. You have been under surveillance for years. The NSA has had the capability to read your emails and to scan your phone calls for over a decade. They do not eavesdrop so if you are telling your best friend that you cheated on your husband... your secret is still safe with them. What the supercomputers do is "crack" encrypted emails and scan through them looking for code words. It is the same with phone calls. If it hears a code word it kicks it out. Then those people are put under more intense surveillance. Then entire conversations can be monitored, but as a country as a whole, that is just to much data for even the worlds greatest super computer to sift through. Do I like the fact that the government is doing it to its citizens, no. Is there anything we can do about it? No. You are just going to have to deal because unfortunately change in this country usually means a violent downhill slide.
