Today, I am rolling out a Free Service that issues donated used or new duty gear to those who are just starting their careers in public safety. Its called Back In Service. We all have extra gear laying around in our lockers, garages, duty bags, etc. Retiring soon? Well, your donated gear could be put to use by a new office or recruit who may be short on cash to buy the proper gear. Because of the cost involved in starting a new position, more and more departments do not issue duty gear. This start up cost is then the responsibility of the new hire-which could be several hundred dollars. This will be a nation wide venture (world wide?). Gear donated will be matched to gear requested (Ill confirm validity of requests with letters of hire). New and used duty gear from and for all sectors of public safety will be accepted to include: Law Enforcement, Firefighting, EMS, & Corrections. Whether your gear is black, brown, basket weave, smooth, leather, nylon or anything else, send what you have and please share this so that everyone who can donate has the opportunity to do so. Do not send money. Please send donated gear and make requests for specific gear to Back In Servicd, PO Box 1341, Rifle, CO 81650. This is a FREE Service. Please do not send guns, knives, or aerosols. Thank you. Sgt. Charley Roemhild, CSTS 1, Rifle Correctional Center, Rifle CO.
