Today I am truly humbled and thankful for generosity of a young man from Arkansas, and his family. This young man decided when he got his drivers license to become an organ donor. I never knew his name but was able to read a letter from his mother to the recipients of his organs, and he was a truly outstanding young man. It was a terrible loss for him to be taken away at such a young age. On September 23 2008 at 61 years of age, I received 70 % of this 17 y.o. young mans liver while a 4 y.o. girl received the other 30%.This was a terrible loss for this young mans family, but their willingness to honor his wishes saved not only these two lives, but there were also the people that received his kidneys, lungs, and his heart, plus eye tissue and other things like bone marrow.... There is so much in this world today that I just dont understand, but I do know this had to be both the ultimate loss and ultimate act of generosity at the same time. We humans, especially those that identify as Christian, need to try to be more kind, and tolerant of others differences.....:).....I hope you enjoy this first day of Autumn...
