Today I began the class with a pre-test and began a teacher oriented lesson. I covered information on Gregor Mendel, dominant and recessive alleles, and certain key terms. I then followed up with an activity on traits. For the most part, the students did pretty well. However, they had a difficult time developing a simple hypothesis over the established problem. The problem was: Are dominant alleles in traits more common than recessive alleles in traits? I learned a lot from this lesson and made note of what I need to improve on. I felt for the most part that I did very well. I even introduced classroom management techniques that were well received (clapping and raising hands).
