Today I come to you to elaborate on my endorsement of Ambassador George Manneh Weah as Senator for Montserrado County. I have come to the conclusion that most of his critics will never accept him as anything but a soccer player. However, Amb. Weah is much more than just a soccer player. My decision to endorse him is based on three things: 1. Philanthropy, caring, and grace 2. Continuous improvement 3. Allowing Liberians to exercise their democratic franchise 1. Philanthropy and caring Throughout the years, I have come to realize that Amb. Weah is truly a man of the people by his deeds and philanthropy when he had no political ambition. I dont need to itemize all the services and sacrifices Amb Weah has made for Liberia because I know you know them or have heard them. I have come across so many people who share stories of a man they have never met but he has had an impact on their life directly or indirectly because of his giving nature. I believe if this man can give of himself without any oath of office or mandate, I believe if he is given the mandate, he will give even more to make the difference for all LIBERIANS. I say grace because as much as Amb Weah is heavily criticized for his speech, he will still grant interviews and relate positively to those who castigate him. 2. Continuous improvement We all know the knock on Amb Weah in 2005 was education. Whats truly impressive to me is the fact that since that time, he has pursued education and obtained it way more than 99% of his 2005 critics who probably have not read a textbook since October 2005. He is a typical product of the Liberian educational system and he had a late start, but because he loves and respect education, he was willing to humble himself and go back to school. Yes, we will not call Amb Weah an intellectual but we surely respect his will to overcome his doubters and his own limitations. The George Weah that we see today is a much more improved version than the George Weah that captured the political landscape 9 years ago. We must respect his improvement. Amb Weah has left his core career and leveraged his popularity into a very promising political career and is arguably the NUMBER 1 POLITICIAN IN LIBERIA. How many LIBERIANS have been #1 in anything in the world before being #1 in two separate categories in Liberia? #1 athlete and #1 politician. Which other politician had such a meteoric rise and despite all the negatives has sustained and remains the most powerful political force? Please dont answer. Its obvious! 3. Allowing Liberians to exercise their democratic franchise The reality today is that the people of Montserrado love and want Weah. I know many of us have negative perceptions of the CDC but the CDC is the peoples party, the true grassroot party. The people have an unexplainable trust that Amb Weah is their man who can deliver them. Lets give the peoples choice the chance to fulfill their trust and validate their confidence. I FIRMLY BELIEVE that he wants to represent the people of Montserrado and the people of Montserrado believe hes their LEADER. Primarily for these three reasons, I want to reiterate that I, JORDAN P, Host of RadioLibs NIGHT TIME SPIN, OFFICIALLY ENDORSE AMBASSADOR GEORGE MANNEH WEAH AS SENATOR OF MONTSERRADO COUNTY.
