Today, I drove to Pierre to testify to the Transportation Committee on behalf of all of you asking the committee to pas HB1030 to the House of Representatives. After some discussion amongst the committee members, HB1030 was amended to add the word minimum. It now reads ...must give a minimum of 3 feet... Discussion continued and the bill has been deferred to Tuesday. I had an opportunity to speak with Reps Rounds and Stalzer. They both have assured me that they support HB1030. They informed me that Rep Hickey is a yes vote as well. These three need to be thanked for their vote in support. Reps Bolin, Duvall, Feickert, Rasmussen, Schaefer, Schoenbeck, Schrempp, Werner I got the impression are undecided. These need to be contacted ASAP!!! Urge them to vote yes and pass this bill to the House. Reps Kaiser and Verchio, were vocally against HB1030. Dept of Public Safety, Police Association, American Heart Association, and the DOT are on our side.
