Today I had a cup of coffee that costed me around $6. I was just walking to my bus stop, saw Esquires, and felt like a coffee. Why didnt I drink water instead? I dont know. Perhaps because I like the taste of coffee and I can afford it. But can I?.. A few hours later I found a NZ volunteer-run charity organization that builds schools with essential services like water supply and sanitation in East Africa (Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda). They ask for just $1 a week, and since the company is staffed entirely with part-time volunteers passionate about making a difference, 100% of the money goes into building actual schools. This sudden realization made me hate coffee (or rather myself). Since I have financial responsibilities to my family in Ukraine, for now Ill just stop buying things I dont need (like coffee), but Ill surely start making donations to BE as soon as I become financially independent.
