Today I had one of the most emotional experiences of my life. I - TopicsExpress

Today I had one of the most emotional experiences of my life. I went to a presentation by our history departmaent. Ray Gawendo (a local Ct. resident) told her story of her survival of the Holocaust. She is 99 years old!!! The tears ran down my face as she shared her story of being one of the 38 (out of 6000) survivors of the Vilna Ghetto in Poland and the Klooga Concentration Camp in Estonia. At the end, when it was opened up for Q & A, the first of our students to speak asked if she could go up and give her a hug. It touched my heart. These teenagers are the last generation that will hear first hand of the Holocaust. Years ago I took an oath at another such presentation that I would never let people forget - today I was able to renew that pledge. People, please, please help make sure that such autrocities are never forgotten.
