Today, I have the privilege of watching a former student play - TopicsExpress

Today, I have the privilege of watching a former student play football in the area. I am excited about having the opportunity to get to see him in his element. More important it is every educators dream to see a child overcome obstacles that many only read about. This young man has more determination and perseverance than anyone I have ever known. Many times, during his young life he could have quit or could have made bad life choices. He would tell everyone I am going to college and I am going to play football. Well, despite a torn ACL twice, many academic hurdles, death of his mother, and everything else that could go wrong in life, he kept pushing. Many people have loved him and have supported him throughout his young life. Today, I go to this game to watch Thaddeus Stewart for my friend, Judy Kellow. She tried very hard not to miss his games. She kept in touch with him on a regular basis and loved him. She was an angel that God put in his life. She is unable to go see him play today, but I will be there to support him along with many others whose lives this young man has touched. Many times when dealing with teenagers who have made bad choices, I have thought, I wish I had a little of Thaddeus to sprinkle on them! We love you Thad, once a Maverick...always a Maverick.
