Today I have three major stars in my universe to celebrate. Stars - TopicsExpress

Today I have three major stars in my universe to celebrate. Stars that have shine so brightly as to light the path for many others, even in the darkest of times. Today I celebrate my my best friend...my confidant, my willing accomplice, my sidekick, co-star, my co-evil genius...my person, the incomparable Jerusha Gray. We met one fateful day when we were 11, and right away we were instant best friends. Life, and possibly some ill advised decision making (lol) has taken us on crazy adventures. When we were sixteen we drove to Eastern Washington while it was on fire to drop off the little brothers of a friend of ours at their grandparents place...we ended up going on a trail ride with the gassiest horses Ive ever met. We used to volunteer together at the Carnation Senior Center and we used to sing and dance to amuse our octogenarian friends there...we also learned how to schmooze the old folks from Howard Miller who was, himself, and old folk. One time, on a lark, we drove to Oregon to buy KFC, and then headed straight back. We bought a couch from Good Will, which we named Walter, that was the comfiest couch Ive ever had. Jerusha got us a dog once--a dalmatian--named Jordan that was, well....not so intelligent, and straight up peed all over her in the middle of the night one time. This woman is so intelligent its scary. Shes a terrific artist, a spectacular ally, a fantastic mother, and a skilled conversationalist. She is strong, kind, compassionate, desiring of genuine community, and she is always helping me becoming the best version of myself that I can be. Happy birthday, Jerusha. Today I also celebrate my dearest Momo..Monica Smothers. Though Monica and I have not been friends for decades, like Jerusha and I, Ive come to love her as though weve known each other for lifetimes already. Monica loves without judgment or reservation. She is whip smart, incredibly funny, driven, passionate, kind, and loving. This is one person that has made my life infinitely richer for her being in it. Monica and I are made from the star stuff. I love you, Monica! Happy birthday! The third person I celebrate today is my sweet cousin, Kaisa Lidstrom. From the very first time I held her in my arms, I was in love. Her tiny little body trusting me to help care for her, love her, and raise her up in a strong, dynamic family...watching her grow into the woman shes become has been a delight. I still have a hard time believing shes a woman grown now! Kaisa loves with her whole being. She is considerate and loving, and she always sees the best in other other people. She gives great hugs, and she always helps out taking care of her family. I love you, bug. Happy birthday!
