Today, I learned a few things and all thanks to the latest D&D podcast. Its an interview with Dan Harmon - a name Ive heard but Im unfamiliar with his work. He created and produced a comedy series called Community on NBC. Never heard of the program before. Community refers a kind of university - what we would call a TAFE college. The interest here is that theres a follow-up to an earlier episode where the study group (including Pierce played by Chevy Chase) learn a bit about D&D. Ive never seen D&D done well in shows before. Its not a spectator sport, its ill-understood by too many, and most of the stuff in movies and TV either present it as evil or a poor kind of joke. Neither is true, of course. As for Community, Ill reserve judgement until I see a DVD of the show.
