Today I learned that my dear, amazing friend, absolute soul sister, live life your way mentor, still got it yoga-headstanding, skydiving retiree, fellow French teacher, wonderful, spiritual Goddess and one of my all-time favorite people on this planet...while solo vacationing in Panama, (because going on epic adventures is just how she rolled), made one last journey...leaving this earthly life, to cross the rainbow bridge and rejoin the other beings of light awaiting her. Louella Thomas, PhD ...aka: Lou Lou, Dr. Lou, Nana Lou, Lou Lou la Flamme ...Thank you doesnt seem to scratch the surface of the depth of my gratitude that you came into my life. For all your wisdom, for your embracing love of all people, cultures, languages and ways of living, for your indomitable strength, for your example, for ALL the laughs, for the occasional tears, for teaching me bad words in Turkish, for teaching me good words in Italian, for eating, drinking and being merry with me, for shared birthday parties, wallpaper adventures, saying goodbye to pets together, moving classrooms together, weathering storms together, French dinners, Japanese dinners, sabering off the tops of champagne bottles, dancing and dreaming and teaching me so, so much...but mostly, just teaching me how to be fully ALIVE... I humbly express my undying gratitude! I know you left this planet EXACTLY how you wanted to, doing what you loved most, and living life to the very fullest. Im so very honored to have shared 14 years of friendship with you. You were my friend, my confidant, my soul sister, my second mom, my happy hour pal, often my partner in crime, and so much more! Dearest Lou Lou, Please dont be mad about my tears...I dont shed them out of sadness - I know you wouldnt want that - theyre because Im so moved from all the beauty, love, kindness, wisdom and adventure you brought into all of our lives. You left one hell of an amazing impact on this place and those who knew you! When I grow up (Ha!) I hope to be just like you! Have a great journey, my cherished friend.
