Today I led and directed the group - Support Group. Support Group is where you take turns listening to each person as they share something that is hard pressing on their heart and mind and then provide feedback to the person sharing. Feedback and / or advice. Teaching classes I feel truly prepare me for studying to become a CPS Certified Peer Specialist. I have been in the program for a little over a year now and have gained a lot of insight into self help and had some wonderful mentors. Things have not always been 100% smooth sailing, but I have been happy enough on most days. The last several classes I have taught have brought tears to several of my peers. I have taught class this week on Conflict/ Resolution, Depression Management and now today, Support Group. I truly hate to see my peers break down and cry but in my heart of hearts I am happy that they have been able to share with the group their true feelings and to get it off their chest and mind. I feel that the groups have been so powerful that it has brought several to tears and this pleases me. It pleases me enough to know that my groups have been so powerful and inspirational that it has led my peers to tears. I am pleased to know that I have been able to share in my experiences and recovery story with my peers and to share with the groups my recovery story a long my path of life. I have unspoken prayer requests for my peers that have cried this week during my classes and hope that you will lift them up in your daily prayer life. We have a small garden out back at class. I was able to eat banana peppers straight from the garden this week and they were delicious. I sprinkled a little salt on the peppers and ate them whole and raw. I have some new experiences to add to my application and Pre Test on becoming a Certified Peer Specialist. I have been teaching class this year and have so much more to share. I will continue to read my manuals and study about the ethics and role of a CPS until the next Application and Pre Test is open again. I hope to receive a scholarship to St. Simons Island in August but am not certain if I will be allowed to go given the fact that I went to St. Simons last summer with my class for conference. St. Simons Island is where I was first introduced to The Respect Institute and their training. I then brought my class and learning experience back to New Rock for us to hold a benefit and classes for The Respect Institute.
