Today I listened to the morning news show, and ended up feeling as though I was at the bottom of a pit of despair. All around us are governments and corporate players functioning from a platform of hierarchy and greed, at the basis of which is a staggering range of violent behaviours, from covert structural violence to outright violence. From the situations in the Ukraine, Syria, the Sudan, Argentina, and countless other places teetering on the brink of war and overt violence, to the everyday structural violence felt by oppressed and othered peoples the world over, to the absolute rape and pillage of our natural environment, violence holds sway. Violence breeds and feeds on the thought patterns and cognitive processes of flight or fight brain centres... the kind that non-progressive thinkers the world over function from... the kind that androcracy breeds happily in... the kind that conservative politics dwells in... We have just about reached exhaustion. Can we just get over the hubris, and the macho bullshit, and get off the hierarchical ego bike and admit that maybe there is another way of doing things? With International Womens Day here, I think it is beholden upon the people of this small, fragile planet to put down their phallic bloody spears and guns, and step back and let a nurturing, inclusive, partnership approach have some bloody air! I think it will take a GLOBAL FEMINIST REVOLUTION to bring order to this badly out of balance patriarchal world. NO matter if you are a man or a woman, you can be a feminist... The partnership paradigm needs a go... or we all go... to hell.
