Today I observed about 50 Mississippi Kites in a group. They were flying in no particular formation but rather in a bunch, and flying in circles amongst themselves. There didnt appear to be any insect hatch or any other prey in that area. Ive never seen this before. They were moving slowly, west to east, but never broke as a group that I saw. Is this behavior unusual, mating behavior, migration behavior. To be sure theyve just recently shown back up here in N. Texas.
