Today I ran/walked the Urban Cow Half Marathon the day after completing the Brazen Racing Rocky Ridge Half marathon. I walked the majority of the race and still went a 3:23. I also have come to the conclusion I am NEVER doing Rock n Roll San Jose Half Marathon ever again. Urban Cow is run the same weekend and IS BETTER! It is half the price to reg, shirt design and medal are cooler ( cowbell medal). Walker friendly with 4 hour time limit. The course is mostly shaded, evenly paved FLAT half (very PRable course). It runs through residential areas ( they come out to cheer on their front lawns), downtown Sac, old town Sac and along the American River. Plus there really IS a band EVERY mile. The police NEVER stopped me to let traffic through (im a back of packer). Finish line food was epic, Sandwiches, Cookies, bars, strawberries with chocolate, cans of soda, bottled water. What really stuck with me was after we went to lunch and the course cut off was reached they KEPT the finish line OPEN for those last people PLUS had enough food for them to get what I got an HOUR earlier. After this wonderful experience I am going to try to get all my friends to ditch the race in san Jose and head to sac for a WELL RUN, race that CARES about the runner experience and the runner pocket book
