Today I read the book title "Partition of India" and comes to know that Maharaja Hari Singh, the ruler of princely state of Jammu & Kashmir , preferred to remain independent and did not want to join either the Union of India or the Dominion of Pakistan. He wanted both India and Pakistan to recognize his princely state as an independent neutral country like Switzerland. But Pakistan captured the North west frontier of state then Maharaja turned to India, requesting troops for safeguarding Kashmir and Maharaja signed the Instrument of Accession to the Dominion of India on 26 October 1947 with proof available, hence its shows that India is the owner of the state not Pak.
