Today I received an email that was both completely out of the blue and exciting at the same time. I am honored to have developed a positive reputation for being a community advocate and I am hopeful that the meetings that come out of this will prove fruitful for the Bridesburg community. We plan on meeting for the first time on May 6th and then doing a walking tour of some sites in the Bridesburg area the week of May 12th. Bridesburg strong! Dear Adam, My name is Alison Kenner, I am a professor and anthropologist at Drexel University; my research is on sustainability and environmental health in the U.S. I’m new to Philadelphia and am looking to learn more about the work that nonprofit and community organizations are doing here in Philadelphia. Im especially interested in the Bridesburg area. A colleague at Drexel (Danie Greenwell) said that youd be a great person to talk to (Danie said she doesnt know you personally, shes just heard of your work!) I’d love to meet over coffee and hear about the kind of projects and initiatives that are happening in Bridesburg. Would you have time to meet over coffee, or is there someone else who might be a better person to meet with? I’d be happy to answer any questions you have, tell you more about my interests and work, or provide you with any other information. You can respond via email, or if you’d like to talk, you can reach me anytime on my cell phone. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time, Ali -- Alison Kenner, Ph.D Assistant Professor, Department of History and Politics Drexel University
