Today I rose in Question Period to ask about the Conservative governments forestry policy in the wake of the announced closure of Resolutes Fort Frances paper mill. I asked why they wont support repeated calls from New Democrats for a national forestry strategy, for a permanent adjustment fund for towns and cities that lose their primary employer, and for better security for the pensions and severance pay of all Canadian workers. The answer I received was bizarre and disappointing, but not surprising. New Democrats believe you deserve better.
