Today I said farewell to one of my three brothers. Dwight Allen - TopicsExpress

Today I said farewell to one of my three brothers. Dwight Allen Mays (age 58) was 2 years younger than I; we were close and had many a mischievous adventures and were cohorts in crime during our youth. He was my best man when I got married 31+ years ago. He touched many people in a lifetime which ended too soon. It was comforting to see/speak and hear from his many friends from our early school years and those who were neighbors, clients and co-workers throughout the years. His employer (Hobart Sales & Service) for the past 28 years, paid a rare tribute to his passing today; they ceased operations and joined/lead the funeral procession with the company’s service vehicles. They retired his service vehicle number, and used his service van decorated with black ribbons lead the procession. It was rainy and overcast today that promised 90% chance of rain. However, as the procession arrived at the cemetery today, the rains stopped and did not hinder the completion of the services. Prayers can/will be answered, God is good and things will work if you have a little faith. Following this past week long “Home Coming” celebration for my brother Dwight in Heaven, I’d like to believe that my brother and my father (Raymond Mays) have a long delayed and well deserved fishin’ trip planned for this weekend. Dwight and my Dad were big fishing buddies when we were growing up. On lots of weekends my Dad and his “little fishin’ buddy” would make for Douglas Lake for a day of fishin’. I’m sure that my Dad along with my father-in-law (Bob Pemberton) have already found all the “sweet spots” for fishin’ and they will catch their limit. After a bit of fishin’ I think that the next item on a list of items to be accomplished would be that Dwight will take a bike ride along with our Dad around Heaven. Dwight on his Harley-Davidson and Dad on his Indian “Chief”. My brother carried a card in his wallet through the years with what he felt were his motto for living a good life. Courage Courage doesn’t always roar sometimes is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow Rest easy brother, in no way could I ever hope to replace you in the role as father. I’ve got your back and will be here for your children if/whenever needed until my own homecoming. Rest in Peace Dwight, we shall meet someday, that I can be certain.
