Today I saw my youngest patient, a five year old boy. Handsome, sweet and so loving. He gave me hugs and smiles after seconds of meeting me. The parents drove almost an hour and a half to see me at the recommendation of their physician. The sweet boy has major digestive issues. It turns out that he developed autism as a result of immunization. He was born healthy and vibrant and now so ill, its is breaking his parents hearts. Their ethnic community rejected them, the school is holding him back, they are struggling financially to get by since a lot of what they are doing is not covered by insurance. The mother said that I was a gift from God that they met me, but I tell you. They were a gift to me. I am forever humbled by todays experience. My heart is open and hard to hold the tears back to watch and listen to their struggles. If there was a way to hold the pharmaceuticals responsible for this. One minute changed this sweet boys life and his parents forever.
