Today I spent two hours learning and understanding Common Core - TopicsExpress

Today I spent two hours learning and understanding Common Core Math. I am not against this altogether because it does teach the Why and not just the answer. My beef here is, how will this work in geometry later on and how will this be incorporated into the SAT, ACT, GED or ASVAB testing later on in the life of a child? Sounds to me like money plays a big factor in using children as test subjects again. New Jersey has tried other methods of learning in the past that have long since been dropped. This also may end up in the waist basket. I am open to it but it will not pay the bills later in life. It just shows a different way of thinking which is always good to expand the mind (like solve for x). But in reality, the child that can think the fastest and find the correct answer will always come out on top and this method is not built for speed.
