Today I started an Introduction to Linux class, presented by the Linux Foundation on EdX (an online course website founded by Harvard and MIT). The course is free, but the tradeoff is that there is zero individual support. Thats fine with me, as one of my primary skills is Internet research, but after days like today I realize how much of my research ability depends on the altruism of strangers. True, some of that altruism is incentivized (through online ad sale revenue, for example), but much of the information I found appears to be available purely out of the goodness of peoples hearts. The last piece of the puzzle I needed today I found in a blog with clear, step-by-step instructions (and no advertising). It was How To Install Linux Mint Cinnamon 64-bit version to Oracle VM VirtualBox. Given the number of options I had ruled out to get to this very specific setup, I am grateful and amazed that I was able to find this exact guide when I needed it. Thank you, people of the Internet.
