Today I want to show you my favourite way to set my hair. Sponge - TopicsExpress

Today I want to show you my favourite way to set my hair. Sponge rollers! They are super easy and no fuss at all. They are great too if you try to avoid using heat on your hair. What you will need.. -Sponge rollers (the ones I use are 1inch diameter which is the ideal size. You can get them in packs of 12. I suggest getting 2 packs) -Rat tail comb -Setting Lotion (I use Layrite Grooming Spray) -Head scarf -Paddle Brush 1. I do my set after I wash my hair. Because I have thick hair and know it will not dry overnight, I blow dry it till it is just damp. You will generally know how your own hair behaves and dries, if not you may need to experiment with this step. 2. Using the end of the rat tail comb I section my hair. I apply 2 sprays of setting lotion to the section and comb it through. This part is repeated throughout. I put the first roller at the top center of my head and do a row straight back. 3. I do the sides in no particular order. Just wherever a roller will fit horizontally. 4. Once all my hair is in rollers, I then cover it all in a head scarf. I use a Bettie Page (or tatyana boutique) scarf as they are the perfect size for the job. I avoid using a nylon one as the may tear if I move in my sleep. 5. Then I go to bed. These rollers are actually not too bad to sleep in. First couple of nights were a bit strange but you get used to them pretty quickly. 6. Once I have done my makeup the next morning it is time to take out the rollers. You will look a bit like Shirley Temple with the tight ringlets haha. 7. Using a paddle brush it is time to brush those curls out. Be patient with brushing out as sometimes it may take a while to get the curls just how you like. If your hair is a little fluffy you can use a small amount of pomade to smooth it down a bit. 8. Once brushed I part my hair at the side and place a flower, fascinator or bow on the same side as the part. This way of setting is great as it can save a lot of time when getting ready in the morning. Also, I have found I can get up to 3 days of curly hair out of one set. You can roll your hair up again each night but I personally dont. If the curls arent as great the 3rd day I find the volume is still there making it perfect for styling into victory rolls etc. So there you have it, setting with sponge rollers. Whats your favourite way to set your hair?
