Today I was able to be out of the classroom to attend the Maine Social Studies conference in Augusta. Learned about where Maine is headed with the Common Core State Standards in SS, attended a great workshop on the The Global Classroom put on by two teachers from Belfast and had time to meet and talk with educators from around our state. BONUS was running in to a former 4th grade student of mine from Bucksport who has been teaching 2 years at the High School level. Had a nice time talking to her, even though I felt old. One of the things I like about teaching is seeing former students and getting a chance to talk to them. I must look somewhat the same, they all know who I am still!!!
