Today, I was delivering a presentation in front of 700 people at AIESEC International Congress, and as Giancarlo Ostuni and I got on stage for our part, my computer that never crashes, crashes. A presentation I prepared weeks for, I was left empty of slides, we had to perform like ducks on water, treading fast under the water surface, but completely at peace above on the surface. Starring at the IT desk and my computer with fire in my eyes, I took a deep deep breath, closed my eyes, and went straight into it. Rachel Whitehead runs to the rescue and with no hope in sight, I run back on stage. It started with a big word Imagine slide with the Earth rolling up into the horizon and it was meant to be extremely inspiration. I had to facilitate this instead without any slides, told everyone to hold each others hands, close their eyes, and imagine. As I started speaking, my brain started saying things exactly in the flow of the slides I didnt have, and even the quotes I wanted to say. Thank god for watching all of those Burberry digital marketing videos 100x over and writing about it.. I think I ironed the knowledge in my brain from watching and reading it so many times. Fortunately, for the next 30 minutes, I just spoke, and it ended up flowing naturally. Thank you to the audience for listening so deeply and sticking with me. This was definitely a memorable moment where the worst could possibly happen to a speaker, turned into an opportunity to test my limits as a speaker. That was really intense (and scary) and couldnt have turned out better than I would have anticipated during the moment of doom. Your positive feedback was so empowering. Thank you!
