Today, I was fortunate to go into Dorothy Murphys 5th grade classroom at Lancaster Elementary and talk to 3 separate classes about the 4-H Speech Contest and giving speeches, in general. There are some speeches that give information and others that evoke emotion. We watched the last five minutes of the Dr. Martin Luther Kings, I Have A Dream speech. Dr. Kings speech is a perfect example of captivating an audience through powerful words constructed in conviction, and, although they may someday deliver a similar message, the subject of their current speech may seem trivial to the world, but their enthusiasm and richness of their words will change minds and can change the world. This is the section of his speech we watched.
