Today I was grocery shopping and one of the last things to be - TopicsExpress

Today I was grocery shopping and one of the last things to be loaded onto my cart was a three 12 packs of Pepsi. When I got into the appropriate aisle, there was a family there; both parents and two young boys 12 - 10 in age. I maneuvered around them and bent to grab diet Pepsi (why are these on the bottom shelf?) and as I fussed with a 12 pack to open the handle, one of the kids stepped right up and said Can I help you with that?. Now this was not a family in suits and ties or dressed like the upper east side (whatever that means to you). There were numerous tattoos shared between both parents and they might have been overlooked by me under other circumstances. But I was touched by the sincerity of this young man and I accepted his offer of assistance. And then I told his parents You are raising a gentleman and their response was We hope so and we went our merry way. At my age I should know better than to judge books by their covers and I am soo happy to say there is always hope for the next generation!
