Today I was reminded of the 8 Millennium Goals the UN adopted in 2000 as its action plan and guide-lines for the following 25 years: (i) eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, (ii) achieve universal primary education, (iii) promote gender equality and empower women, (iv) reduce child mortality, (v) improve maternal health, (vi) combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases, (vii) ensure environmental sustainability and (viii) develop a global partnership for development.
