Today I was wandering happily around downtown Manhattan when I decided, on a whim, to walk inside Trinity Church. I was lucky enough to arrive as the Trinity Choir performed. I was with a friend of mine and we were both struck by this rare moment of spirituality through music in the middle of the day in one of the most bustling, exciting cities on earth. And then as we left the church I happened to look at my phone and I saw that Frankie Knuckles had passed. I was actually rooted to the spot for a moment. The word legend gets bandied about far too easily but in this case its the perfect description of a man who helped form the music Ive followed for most of my life. I was lucky enough to meet him on a few occasions and a more humble, polite and gentlemanly individual you would struggle to find. I always came away inspired. I think today Frankie, those choristers sang for you. Thankyou for the music.
