Today I went to the Brazilian Embassy to help my husband get a - TopicsExpress

Today I went to the Brazilian Embassy to help my husband get a visa. I got a big headache and almost had a nervous break down in the process. We thought the visa had expired so we filled out the papers, got pictures and ran to the Embassy to get a new visa. The attendant let us know that it would take 2 weeks for a new visa and that they have no rush service; we did not have that much time. We decided to go forward with it and wait the amount of time required. While we went to the post office to get the money order, I start thinking that changing the ticket for him was not going to work; it was not a good idea for my husband to travel by himself due to his age and other things. When I came back, I talked to the vice consul who listened to my concerns. Before he could tell us if he would or would not grant the visa, he checked the passport and noticed that the old visa was still valid for one more year. Somehow, the visa only had one date, the issue date and how many years it was good for. I was very grateful to the vice consul who could interpret the date issue and assure us that everything was fine. What a relief! If you are traveling abroad, make sure you get all the necessary documents and visa as soon as you get your ticket if not before. It could have ruined our trip!
