Today I worshipped with the saints at First Baptist Church in Rome, GA. I was also the preacher this morning. My dear and good friend, Joel Snider, who is Senior Pastor there, asked me more than two months ago to preach for him in his absence. My sermon was based on today’s Gospel Lesson for the Second Sunday of Eastertide, which is John 20:19-31. I titled it “Believing in Resurrection on the Sunday after Easter Day.” Huel and Helen Hargett, former Tabernacle members who now live in Rome and are members of Garden Lake Baptist Church, were there. It was so good to see them and some others I know. I experienced a wonderful welcome and was honored and humbled to proclaim the Good News of the Resurrection. A dear couple, whom Ive known for more than 20 years, Hugh Peacock and his wife, Janey, took me to lunch following worship at the Harvest Moon Cafe in downtown Rome. This has been a good Lords Day.
