Today Im lighting it up blue for a special little lady....my daughter on autism awareness day,The day Leah got her diagnosis was the day I knew our future would change forever that path that you had planned for your child is going to be different for a while I felt sad I had a 3 year old little girl that couldnt communicate with other children she didnt see herself as a child!! She had no social skills or imagination (leah has never played with a doll) She used to sit under the table at school with her hands over her ears or get in cupboards she would kick teachers and couldnt even sit with the other children for registration the noise and closeness of the other children was to much I literally dragged her to nursery kicking and screaming.soon friends disappeared we never got invited to partys not that Leah could cope anyway Leah was a total whirlwind that didnt listen and didnt sleep (2 hours at most) she didnt see danger and believe me we had some near misses....by now your probably thinking thats not the Leah I know?? Leah only shows her true self to a select few! All the anxietys she had as a small child are still there shes just learnt to hide them that its not socially acceptable to scream and hit people or sit under tables etc at the moment we are just getting through one day at a time (thanks to sats at school and being bullied) but Leah has come so far when I look back I wonder how on earth we have got through it!! There have been so many dark scary times,Leah is an amazing little girl and Im proud shes mine shes sweet and funny shes a ball of energy that cant sit still we laugh together and we cry together you see a child with autism is a total blessing yes we go on a different journey but we get to see things you dont see we see tiny achievements as a huge deal Leah makes me proud everyday but my happiest moments are seeing Leah ride misty for a child that couldnt follow more than one instruction at once I think shes doing really well (thanks to Dawn Webster for her understanding ) so into the future we go what it holds....who knows but one things for sure I will be by her side every step of the way 💙💙
