Today Im thinking that Dan seeming out of it may have nothing to do with meds. He was more alert this am but with no extra meds, was seeming under the influence this afternoon and very weak/tired. I think it could be related to low oxygen - or just his atrial fib because confusion is listed as a possible result as well as dizziness which he has all the time. Yesterday, whatever was going on lasted all day - speech was still somewhat slurred at 9:00 pm before taking any of his evening meds. Hes on blood thinners because of the stroke risk with atrial fib - but it could be mini-strokes too. He is opposed to the hospital but next time hes that out of it, I may push the issue. We do have a pulse oximeter but for some reason, doesnt read Dans fingers well. I put it on me and within seconds its at 98. He puts it on and it doesnt ready anything at all for a long time - and then may start reading in the 70s and very slowly increases - takes quite a while before it seems to be done - and may get up into the 90s by then. At the docs office, his oxygen is always ok. But he does feel like hes not getting enough air a lot of the time. We need to ask reg. doc to order tests to see if he would qualify for home oxygen. When hes too weak to see his dogs, its a bad sign. Outdoor dogs may soon become indoor dogs..
