Today, July 31st I celebrate 12 years of sobriety. And I do mean, clean and sober. God Knows the road I had to trod and I am so very grateful to those who played a part in my recovery. I have to go back to the very beginning to those who were there and spoke into my future...Terry Gray, Elaine Gray, Shirli Dains, - and that crew at Cactus Counseling in Tucson, AZ who showed me how. Michael Petillo, who believed in me when I was 90 days sober & decided to hire me as a Program Assistant. Hal von Bohnhoff (my sponsor), my beautiful daughter, Jessa Nunley, Daniel J Borysewicz, Glenn Fournie, W. Eric Rau, David Zinke, My friend who used to call and pester me to stop doing what I was doing and go home..Steven Laguna. And to my brother and friend Douglas Rice who was tireless in his believe that I could do better and be better. If I overlooked someone charge it to my head and not my heart. I never thought that One Day At A Time I would arrive to this point in life. Hell, I honestly never saw myself without something to make it better. Today I have my Higher Power, tools in my serenity bag and the love of good people in my life who stand with me and encourage me to continue on this journey. I remember sitting in meeting and hearing people speak of long term sobriety and I used to think...How in the hell do you go that long without...now I know and I rejoice in this New Freedom. Above All ... Thank You God for allowing me to be one of those who was not constitutionally incapable of grasping this simple program.
