Today June 6 1944 an impressive assault took place we come to know it as D-Day. The D in D-Day stands for day the code was because nobody knew when the assault would take place. The number of Allied combat casualties on D-Day is approximated at 10,000, of whom 2,500 died. The number of Axis casualties stood at 9000, and 15,000-20,000 French civilians died with an unknown number of casualties. Today is a day to honor all the people that lost their lives on that 50 mile heavily- fortified coastline 69 years ago. Take a moment out of your day and remember………………
