Today, Maryland Transportation Secretary James T. Smith, Jr. and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman were joined by Fort Meade Garrison Commander Col. Brian P. Foley and other state, local and private-sector officials to break ground on the $180 million Annapolis Junction Town Center at the Savage MARC Station Transit-Oriented Development project. The nearly 19-acre site, located at the Savage MARC Station near Dorsey Run Road will feature 416 apartments, 100,000 square feet of office space, 17,00 square feet of retail space, a 150-room hotel and a 704-space commuter parking garage for MARC commuters. Today, officials broke ground on the first phase of the Annapolis Junction project - the MARC commuter garage. Apartments, offices, retail and hotel will be built in subsequent phases. The full build-out of the mixed-use development, which is expected to create 712 new permanent jobs and hundreds of temporary construction jobs, is scheduled to be complete in spring 2016. The project was made possible through a joint partnership with the Maryland Department of Transportation, Howard County, Annapolis Junction Town Center, LLC, Annapolis Junction Apartment Homes, LLC and Corporate Office Properties Trust.
