Today, November 02 2014 marks 13th wedding anniversary. I have made many tough decisions in my life. One very important was is decision to seriously engage Hongxia when I was in China. Such engagement eventually led to our wedding. I met Hongxia November 02, 1996 and married to her on November 02, 2001. Though we both come from Asia, we both find therere differences within us, and these differences made possible due to our cultural and social system. The good news is that we both understood our differences and learned to seek common ground to avoid troubles. Looking back on the last decade, I’ve learned so much about how to keep a relationship going and how easily it can be undermined. I don’t practice all of the below all the time or even most of the time (my wife is nodding in agreement), yet I believe it’s all worth striving for, even if you never quite get there. A. Be on each other’s side no matter what B. Forget the ledger C. Treat your partner like your child as much as you can. I know it is difficult, but do your best. D. Boring is okay, and it is cute too. E. Don’t take things out on each other F. Trust your partner G. love her/his culture and defend his/her culture if needed as I do often. H. whatever happened, do your best to save the marriage, in other words, avoid divorce unless and otherwise it is an inevitable . Attached are some of my wedding pictures.
