Today, Sept 10, 2014, is World Suicide Prevention Day. I wont flood newsfeeds, ask for reposts, likes or comments. I chose this song (taken out of context for personal reasons) to say my peace. First responders (Police, Fire, EMS, dispatchers, ESDA, CERT, EMA ) are relied on in all times of crisis. Theyre expected to handle things expertly and efficiently that many wouldnt want to face. This is their job. But no one is immune to the toll it can take on a psyche and there is a stigma of weakness in asking for help. Ive linked two resources in my cover photo and my profile picture, as well as here. If you need help, make the call. You arent weak and youre definitely not alone. I read their stories and Ive met them. Last year I lost a good friend and someone who helped me and lived to help others when he could. I dont want the tables empty. If you need the number, call. If you think you know someone who might, ask and educate yourself. This is for Jim and anyone who feels like he did. We take care of our own and this is one way we can.
